I saw Golden Age yesterday. I went with two friends, but it was my first time really braving the city on my own. I was nervous, obviously, but I made it to the theater. The play was fantastic! There were moments when I laughed, and other moments that really touched my heart. And let’s not forget that moment when Lee Pace first came onto the stage as his character Bellini. I had to grab onto my friend’s arm and hold back a squeal. I was seeing my favorite actor in the flesh, right before my eyes. Someone I have loved for quite some time, who always put a smile on my face as Ned the Pie-maker when I was feeling down. Let’s just say… I was captivated. <3
When the play was over, for a moment, I thought I wouldn’t be able to meet him. I didn’t know where I should wait, and I almost left. I was at the doors, watching people walking past outside, going about their day, and for a moment I felt sad. My friend noticed and asked me if I wanted to go wait back near the theater entrance. We did. We stood there by the stairs, her back to the railing and me in front of her, as she reassured me that I would meet him. I wasn’t so convinced. Me and disappointment are close.
But then, all of a sudden, I looked up, and he was there, talking to a fan who had approached him. I felt like I had lost my voice for a moment. I stayed back, watching as a few other fans asked for autographs and pictures, but I took a step forward. I was shaking and shy. Then finally, FINALLY, he turned to me. I had things in my head I wanted to tell him, but I had been holding ‘The Fall’ in my hands for him to sign, so all I could blurt out was that I loved him in that movie. He said it was his favorite, and he was just so sweet. I even managed to ask him about Guardians of the Galaxy before stepping beside him for a picture. I was kind of huddled up. I felt so self conscious. But at the same time, I was the happiest girl in the world. For those few fleeting moments, I felt complete.
TL;DR — OMG, THE PLAY WAS FANTASTIC, LEE IS GORGEOUS IRL, AND HE’S SO TALL, AND I WANTED TO FIX HIS LITTLE PIECE OF HAIR STICKING UP, AND HE IS THE SWEETEST PERSON ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. And no one will ever understand how much I adore him.
